
ISLAMABAD, Sept. 19 (Internews): Embassy of the People’s Republic of China hosted a grand reception here on Thursday evening to mark the 75th anniversary of Founding Day China, which was attended by a big gathering of distinguished guests, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The event, attended by civil and military officers, political leaders, diplomats, journalists, and other prominent figures, reflected the mutual admiration between the two nations, underscoring the deep-rooted and brotherly relations between China and Pakistan.
In his remarks, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong extended heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their warm sentiments towards China. He expressed his appreciation for the presence of top Pakistani dignitaries, noting their participation as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two countries.
The Ambassador highlighted China’s remarkable socio-economic progress under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, emphasizing China’s ongoing efforts in modernization and reform. He credited the Communist Party of China (CPC) for its pivotal role in the nation’s comprehensive development.
“Over the past 75 years, China has transformed from poverty to becoming the world’s second-largest economy,” the Ambassador noted. “Our journey from deprivation to prosperity is a testament to the strength and leadership of the CPC.”
He also praised the success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which he described as a key factor in Pakistan’s economic and social progress. “With the joint efforts of both countries, CPEC has delivered fruitful outcomes, strengthening Pakistan’s development across various sectors.”
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, in his address, lauded China’s visionary leadership, stating that China has become a powerful nation in the global community. He emphasized the pride Pakistan takes in its “all-weather” friendship with China and expressed confidence that their partnership would only grow stronger in the years to come.
“Our mutual friendship is a source of peace and prosperity for the world,” Zardari said, adding that Pakistan and China are “reliable friends for all time to come.”
Shehbaz Sharif marked the occasion by hailing the unshakable Sino-Pakistani friendship, emphasizing China’s support for Pakistan, particularly at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He described his recent visit to China as highly productive and praised the welcome extended to him during the trip.
He also lauded President Xi’s Belt and Road Initiative, noting its crucial role in driving economic prosperity throughout the region. Regarding the next phase of CPEC, Sharif expressed optimism that it would further enhance Pakistan’s agricultural and mineral sectors.
He looked forward to the upcoming visit of the Chinese Premier to Pakistan, anticipating that it would elevate bilateral ties to new heights.
In his concluding remarks, the Chinese Ambassador reflected on China’s transformation over the past seven decades.
“We have grown from a country in ruins to a global economic powerhouse, with our economic output increasing 223 times from 1952 to 2023,” he said.
He also highlighted the ongoing cooperation between China and Pakistan, particularly in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and mining.
The Ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development and expressed optimism about the future.
“Under the strategic guidance of our leaders, we will continue to promote the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and strengthen the bonds of friendship between our peoples.”
