Pakistan’s Test squad has seen a change as all-rounder Aamer Jamal, has been released from the team due to fitness issue due to the injury, that he sustained during his stint in county cricket.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has advised Jamal to prioritize his fitness and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
The decision comes as a precautionary measure, with the team management and medical staff emphasizing the importance of his full recovery before he returns to the international stage.
Jamal was initially included in the squad contingent on fitness clearance, but he has now been instructed to focus on improving his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
His injury, however, has raised concerns about his ability to handle the rigors of Test cricket, especially with the demanding Bangladesh Test series ahead that will commence from August 21 in Rawalpindi.
Aamer Jamal joined Warwickshire in the T20 Blast during late April and since then he has been struggling with his fitness issues.
The PCB’s move to send him to the NCA underlines their commitment to ensuring that key players are in optimal condition before taking on the challenges of Test cricket.
While the all-rounder’s absence will be felt, it opens the door for other players to step up and make their mark in the Test arena. He is the third player after Kamran Ghulam and Abrar Ahmed who has been released from the squad recently.
Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in a two-matches Test series, both the matches will be played in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from August 21 to September 3.
