In a shocking revelation, Lahore police have reported that 62% of the cases involving sexual exploitation, kidnapping, and rape of women and children have turned out to be false. After investigation, the police dismissed the charges on finding them baseless.

According to police records, a total of 4,990 cases related to crimes against women and children were registered up until August 7 this year. However, after thorough investigation, 3,099 of these cases were found to be baseless and subsequently dismissed, police said.

The police records further reveal that 6,118 individuals were named as accused in the registered cases. The highest number of false cases involved the abduction of women, with 2,221 complaints proving to be fabricated. Similarly, 223 false cases of sexual assault were dismissed after investigations.

Police officials have indicated that many of these false cases were filed out of personal grudges or as a means of blackmail, adding a layer of complexity to the already sensitive issue of crimes against women and children.
