PIA air-hostess caught smuggling currency

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air-hostess was caught red-handed while attempting to smuggle currency at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. The suspect had hidden Saudi riyal worth Rs140,000 in her socks.

In an action by Customs officials at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, the PIA air-hostess was caught red-handed while attempting to smuggle foreign currency.

According to DC Customs Raja Bilal, the air hostess was offloaded from a flight bound for Jeddah after Customs officials discovered the concealed currency. The suspect had concealed 140,000 Saudi riyal in her socks, he added.

Customs officials promptly acted on the discovery, and the air hostess was referred to the investigating officer following the registration of a case. The incident underscores the ongoing efforts by customs authorities to curb illegal currency smuggling at the airport.

The total amount smuggled, equivalent to $37,000, was uncovered during routine checks.
