PDMA issues rain alert for various Punjab districts, urges caution

2 min read

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert due to ongoing rains across various districts, including Lahore.

Rainfall continues in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Sialkot, and Gujrat, prompting the PDMA to direct all deputy commissioners across the province to remain vigilant.

The PDMA DG has instructed all departments concerned to be prepared to handle any emergency situations that may arise due to the persistent rains. The emergency operation centres in all districts, including the provincial control room, are also directed to remain on high alert to ensure a swift response.

In addition, the PDMA has alerted all rescue services, including machinery and personnel from Rescue 1122, to be ready for deployment. The PDMA urges citizens to exercise caution and stay away from electric poles and hanging wires, as well as avoid dirty and dilapidated buildings.

On the other hand, despite partly cloudy skies, Lahore continues to face intense heat, with the sun’s warmth seeping through the clouds. The city also grapples with unannounced load shedding, adding to the residents’ woes.

The Met Department has forecasted another spell of monsoon rains starting from today, providing a glimmer of hope for relief from the heat. However, until the rains arrive, the city’s sweltering conditions persist. Humid weather conditions also prevail in the city.

Load shedding remains a significant issue, affecting various areas across Lahore. Residents in China Scheme, Sabzazar, Federal Colony, and Green Town report frequent and unannounced power outages, exacerbating the discomfort caused by the oppressive heat.
