RAMALLAH: Hussein Al-Sheikh, secretary general of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, arrived in Doha on Monday to hold official talks with the Qatari leadership regarding the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.
According to a statement released by his office, al-Sheikh met Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Qatari Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
The Palestinian envoy and the Qatari prime minister discussed recent developments in the Palestinian territories, internal reconciliation efforts, recent Israeli actions, bilateral, Arab, and international efforts to halt the ongoing Gaza conflict, and emphasized the need for a political framework to achieve a comprehensive solution.
Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023. The Israeli offensive in Gaza has led to the death of more than 37,000 Palestinians.
