World Bank approves $150 million for education in Pakistan

1 min read

The World Bank has approved $150 million in funding to improve education facilities in Pakistan’s Punjab province. This initiative aims to benefit five million children who are currently out of school.

A spokesperson for the World Bank highlighted that the funds will specifically target the seven million children in Punjab who lack access to education.

By enhancing educational infrastructure and resources, the World Bank hopes to significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children in the region.

This development follows the World Bank’s recent approval of a $1 billion loan for the Dasu Dam project.

The Dasu Dam funding marks the largest financial support provided by the World Bank to any project in Pakistan.

It is intended to advance environmentally friendly and cost-effective hydropower generation.

This financing package is a blend of concessional loans from the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
