Moscow’s defence ministry announced on Friday that Russia has intercepted over 100 Ukrainian drones during the night in the southern part of the country and over the Black Sea and Crimea.

The defence ministry released a statement stating that 51 drones were destroyed over the territory of Crimea, 44 over the Krasnodar region, 6 over the Belgorod region, 6 over the Black Sea, and 1 over the Kursk region.

As Russian soldiers move along the front line, making their biggest territory advances in 18 months, Ukraine launched one of its largest drone raids overnight.

Ukraine’s military is now outmanned and outgunned as a result of Russia’s most recent assault.

According to AFP calculations based on statistics from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Moscow captured 278 square kilometres (107 square miles) of Ukrainian land between May 9 and May 15. This is the largest territorial gain in a single operation since mid-December 2022.
