The Met Department has issued forecasts indicating a variety of weather conditions prevailing across Pakistan. According to the department’s spokesperson, most parts of the country are expected to experience hot and dry weather, with temperatures rising notably.
However, there is a possibility of rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and northeast Punjab. Additionally, strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast for the plains.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is anticipated to be cloudy with rain showers, offering relief from the scorching heat.
Lahore
In Lahore, after an early morning rain, the weather turned pleasant, providing respite from the intense heat. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius, with intermittent rain predicted throughout the day.
Karachi
Meanwhile, in Karachi, the decrease in humidity has intensified the sensation of heat. The Met Department forecasts the maximum temperature to range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius, with hot and humid conditions prevailing. Wind speeds are recorded at 15 to 18 kilometres per hour, with humidity levels between 55 and 75%.
Sibbi
However, amidst these varied weather conditions, certain regions are experiencing extreme heat. In one instance, Sibbi reports temperatures soaring up to 47 degrees Celsius in the city and its surroundings. This prolonged period of intense heat has led to a surge in cases of heatstroke, exacerbating the distress faced by residents.
Load shedding exacerbates the situation further, with urban areas enduring up to 12 to 14 hours without electricity, while rural areas experience as much as 18 to 20 hours of power outages. This prolonged load shedding, coupled with the extreme heat, has left many individuals in distress.
As Pakistan grapples with contrasting weather patterns and the challenges they bring, residents are urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impacts of both heat and potential rain showers.
