Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim takes oath as chief justice of Peshawar High Court

In a formal ceremony held at the Peshawar High Court on Monday morning, Acting Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim took the oath as the chief justice.

He was administered the oath by Senior Judge Justice Ijaz Anwar. The event marked an important milestone in the judiciary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Background of Justice Ibrahim

Born on December 2, 1969, in Peshawar, Justice Ibrahim has a distinguished legal career. He earned his law degree from Peshawar’s Khyber Law College in 1992 and acquired licenses to practice law from the high court in 1995 and the Supreme Court in 2008.

Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities, including as assistant and additional advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Career Highlights

Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim’s contributions to the legal field extend beyond his practice. He held the position of president of the Peshawar High Court Bar in 2013. In recognition of his expertise and commitment, he was appointed as an additional judge of the high court in 2016, subsequently becoming a permanent judge in 2018.

Following the retirement of the former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Ibrahim assumed the role of acting chief justice. His tenure in this position has been characterized by a dedication to upholding the principles of justice and the rule of law.
