At least six people were killed and eight others injured during a clash over a land dispute in Nawabshah district on Sunday.
The conflict erupted early this morning between two factions of the Dahri community stemming from a disagreement over contracted land within the jurisdiction of Pubho police station.
According to Nawabshah police, the armed confrontation resulted in the deaths of all six individuals from one group, while eight members of the opposing faction sustained injuries and were subsequently hospitalized in Nawabshah.
Authorities assured the public that the situation was now “under control”.
Responding to the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed the provincial inspector general to furnish a comprehensive report and instructed law enforcement authorities to restore order in the area.
On January 24, a teenager was shot at and injured in a heated verbal clash that erupted over a land dispute between the two families in Muzaffargarh.
The victim was identified as Muhammad Rashid, 17, a resident of Moza Kotla, who was reported to have suffered gunshot wounds on the forehead.
The heirs brought the wounded boy to a nearby rural health centre by themselves before rescuers reached the crime scene, it was said.
Later that month, on January 28, a woman thrashed her elderly mother-in-law to death over a land dispute in Tandlianwala. The victim, 85-year-old Majidan Bibi, a resident of Dhadiwala had a land dispute with her daughter-in-law.
