Assailants targeted on Wednesday Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Complex, resulting in a deadly confrontation with security forces.

As the situation unfolded, two terrorists were neutralised in the exchange of fire, according to reports from police sources.

Police officials on the scene have also confirmed the deaths but remain uncertain about the exact number of terrorists involved in the assault, adding that firing and explosions have been ongoing for more than half an hour.

Meanwhile, security officials have cordoned off the area surrounding the GPA Complex as they work to secure the premises and ensure the safety of residents and personnel.

Situated at the heart of the city, the GPA Complex houses various offices crucial to the operations of the Gwadar Port Authority, alongside facilities for law enforcement agencies and staff residences.

Among its numerous functions, the GPA is instrumental in the development of commercial structures such as bank branches, stevedores, agency offices, cargo storage sheds, and marine repair workshops, aimed at facilitating investors and generating revenue.

The GPA has undertaken significant infrastructural projects within the complex, with an estimated cost totaling Rs. 2381.884 million. These projects are integral to enhancing the port’s capabilities and furthering its economic significance in the region.
