Eight terrorists were killed when the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan on the night of March 17 and 18, on the reported presence of terrorists.

Following an intense exchange of fire during the operation, eight alleged terrorists, including commander Sehra alias Janan, were killed. He was said to be involved in orchestrating the terrorist attack on a checkpost of the security forces in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan on March 16 and was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.

Sanitization operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area as the security forces remained determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country.

On March 16, seven Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in an attack by a group of terrorists on a security forces’ post and the following clearance operation in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to ISPR, a group of six terrorists attacked the checkpost in the early hours of Saturday. However, when the troops foiled the initial attempt of intrusion, the terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, followed by multiple suicide bombing attacks. As a result, a portion of a building collapsed, resulting into the martyrdom of five soldiers.

During the ensuing clearance operation, the troops, led by Lt Col Syed Kashif Ali, effectively engaged and killed all six terrorists.

However, during an intense exchange of fire, Lt Col Syed Kashif Ali and Capt Muhammad Ahmed Badar were martyred.
