Continuous rains cause massive devastation across Balochistan

It has been continuous raining since night in Qila Abdullah. The rivers are flooding. In the course of eight hours, Kalat and the surrounding area received eighteen millimeters of rain.

Water flooded the low-lying regions Mashkil, near Chagai in the Pakistan-Iran border region.

Even on the second day, there was no way to free the stuck cars. A letter regarding rescue helicopter was sent to higher authorities by Deputy Commissioner Chagai.

According to District Vice Chairman Isfandyar Muhammad Zai, where there was access, food and consumable items, blankets and other items have been delivered to the drivers by the levies forces.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain has been recorded across various locations in Balochistan, with Gwadar receiving the highest amount at 58 millimeters. Other areas like Quetta, Dalbandin, Khuzdar, and Turbat also experienced varying degrees of rainfall.

The department further reported that Ziarat has received up to an inch of snow and for the next thirty-six hours, the present spell will remain in effect.

After three days of rain different reports said that 150 fishermen’s boats, hundreds of nets, and motors have been submerged, and that more than 200 mm of rain has fallen, damaging several residences in Gwadar city.

While the Pakistan Army, District Administration, GDA, and PDMA are conducting rescue and relief operations in two Municipal Corporations and four union Councils.

Due to the severe effects of the rain, 35 families have been shifted to rehabilitation centers and dewatering is in progress with the help of a water bowser and 37 water pumps.
