3 min read

Hosts New Zealand are leading the best-of-five series after beating Pakistan again by 21 runs in the second T20I that took place in their country’s Hamilton city on Sunday.

Pakistan could only score 173 runs while chasing 195 runs accumulated by the host team.

Apart from Babar Azam and Fakhr Zaman, the entire batting line failed; they remained prominent on the field with 66 and 50 runs, respectively. On the other hand, Saim Ayub managed to score just a single run, Mohammad Rizwan 7, Azam Khan 2, Aamir Jamal scored 9 runs, and Iftikhar Ahmed 4 before being bowled out.

From the host team, Adam Mullen claimed 4 wickets, and Ash Sodhi and Ben Sear 2 each.

Earlier, New Zealand had lost their second wicket for 137 runs when Finn Allen was dismissed for 74 runs.

Their first wicket fell for 59 runs when Aamir Jamal dismissed Dion Conway for 20 runs.

Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bowl first against New Zealand in the second T20 match in Hamilton on Sunday.

Impressive bowling at the death as Pakistan are set a target of 195.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson retired hurt after “experiencing tightness” in his right hamstring while batting in the second T20I against Pakistan in Hamilton on Sunday. As a precautionary measure, he would not return to the field

It’s just the instinctive way of play, it’s a beautiful environment and conditions are batting friendly, it’s difficult for bowlers to defend and I enjoyed my batting. It’s just my natural game and I don’t want to change that. Yeah, always ready to bowl, you can suggest that to captain (chuckles).

New Zealand XI: Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Ben Sears

Pakistan XI: M Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan (wk), Aamir Jamal, Usama Mir, Shaheen Afridi (c), Abbas Afridi, Haris Rauf.
