Islamabad Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir Monday acquitted main accused in Sarah Inam murder case Shahnawaz Amir in a case of illegally possessing Kalashnikov, on benefit of doubt and expressed anger on the faulty investigation conducted by the police.
As per written judgement, the court also ordered to issue Robkar (release orders) of the accused in Kalashnikov recovery case.
The court announced the verdict after prosecution failed to prove the case against the accused as there were many loopholes in the evidence presented in the case.
Constable Tariq who sent the complaint to the police station was produced in the court as witness but private person was not presented as a witness.
Islamabad Police had arrested Shahnazaz Amir on September 23 last year for allegedly killing his Canadian national wife at a farmhouse in the Islamabad.
Sarah Inam, 37, was a Canadian national economist who worked with Deloitte and USAID at different points of her career, was married to Shahnawaz for just three months before being murdered. She had a master’s degree from the University of Waterloo.
