Pakistan assures IMF of fulfilling promises

A high-level meeting was held between caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar and the International Monitory Fund (IMF) in Morocco.

Both discussed global economic affairs and financial stability. Shamshad Akhter expressed Pakistan’s determination to implement the promises (with the IMF) for the economic prosperity of Pakistan.

The parties also discussed financial cooperation at the global level. The Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and finance secretary also attended the meeting.

Shamshad Akhtar also met with the delegation of global rating agency Moody’s on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank in Morocco.

The Finance Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency in economic affairs and aimed at boosting investor confidence.

“Pakistan wants to maintain a positive credit rating in global markets,” she added.

The caretaker finance minister also met with the delegation of the international rating agency Standard & Poor’s and promised to improve financial stability and fiscal governance

The ongoing reforms in the country will promote sustainable economic growth.
