YouTube to shut down Premium Lite subscription plan

1 min read

After two years of piloting its low-cost subscription plan, Premium Lite, YouTube is discontinuing it. YouTube Premium Lite will no longer be offered after October 25. The low-cost plan was first offered in select European countries at a rate of £6.99.

With the help of this plan, subscribers were able to get an ad-free viewing experience. However, it didn’t have Premium features such as offline downloads, background playback, or any YouTube Music benefits.

After the discontinuation of Premium Lite, users will have the option to go back to the regular YouTube app or subscribe to the pricier YouTube Premium that also includes YouTube Music.
