Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, who made an extended cameo in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan, has opened up about why she chose to do the film. Shah Rukh, Deepika, Sunil Grover, Atlee, Anirudh Ravichander and Ridhi Dogra among others attended Jawan’s press conference in Mumbai on Friday.

Talking about the movie and the love they have been receiving, Deepika said, “I have no words to say except thank you so much for all the love. I really just did this for my love for Shah Rukh and everyone knows the relationship that we share. And I didn’t anticipate for this to become so special but I’m just proud and happy to be here and support the team.”

At the event, Shah Rukh Khan also spoke about Deepika Padukone and said, “We fooled Deepika. She thought she’s doing a cameo because of love but we made her shoot the whole film. Thank you Atlee sir, thank you Vijay sir, thank you Nayan ji, thank you Deepika for not catching that we made you shoot the whole film.”

Deepika had earlier opened about her remuneration for Jawan. In an interview with The Week, Deepika had shared, “I wanted to be a part of 83 because I wanted it to be an ode to women who stand behind their husbands’ glory. I watched my mother do it. This was my homage to wives who make sacrifices to support their husbands’ careers. Other than that, any special appearance for Shah Rukh Khan, I am there. Same with Rohit Shetty.”

Talking about her reationship with SRK, Deepika said, “We are each other’s lucky charm. But honestly, we are beyond luck. We have a sense of ownership over each other.”

On its eighth day in theaters, Jawan earned Rs 19 crore in India across all languages, totaling Rs 345 crore in net collections and Rs 386 crore in gross collections within the country. Globally, the movie’s box office collection surpassed Rs 660 crore in just seven days.
