The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) one of the two major coalition partners at the Center has not ruled out appointing the current finance minister and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as caretaker prime minister.
While both the main coalition partners agreed that a politician should be appointed as the head of the interim set-up, PPP’s Qamar Zaman Kaira said no politician can be appointed as a judge and vice versa.
According to sources, PML-N has agreed to appoint Finance Minister Senator Dar as Caretaker Prime Minister. They said the government committee formed in this regard is taking all other political parties into confidence.
in conversation with PPP spokesperson Faisal Karim Kundi said the PML-N has not yet informed his party that Dar’s name is under consideration.
Kundi said, “In future, if Ishaq Dar’s name is proposed, we can discuss it. The party’s senior leadership will decide on the caretaker prime minister’s name.”
The PPP leader said that like the PML-N, each party is in talks and his party’s consultation is yet to be finalised. We haven’t finalized anyone’s name yet.
Kundi said the official announcement will be made only when the name is finalised.
