The unethical activities and disorder of some undisciplined teachers in COMSATS University Vehari campus are on the rise and they have turned the premises into a center of immoral activities, claimed students seeking anonymity.

Improper and unethical behavior of some teachers has put the future of students at stake. In COMSATS University Vehari Campus, the bad language of a few lecturers in the software engineering department and the behavior of giving low marks biasedly have caused serious problems for the students and parents as well. The students are suffering from mental torture due to the wrong behavior o such teachers.

For the past few years, an unprofessional lecturer named Manzoor Ahmad Joyia has been causing mental anguish to students, especially female students, due to his alleged mental problems.

The students said that if they complain to the administration, he starts personal enmity and threatens them with serious consequences, including “I will not let you pass.”

In the current semester’s exams, 17 students out of a total of 20 students have been threatened to fail. The result of all the students has been released but the results of more than 17 students have been withheld for no reason. Other members of the faculty are also aware of the issues but chose to remain silent.

The students said that even before this, the students have suffered serious educational losses due to teachers’ bad behavior. Sources revealed that due to the same actions of Joyia, he went into a scuffle with the students last year but the University could stop his actions.

A staff member of the university, seeking anonymity, said that Joyia has been taking medication for mental disorders and was asked to take a long leave for treatment, which he refused.

Besides Joyia, lecturers named Zahid Anwar and Ashfaq Ahmed also harassed and mentally tortured, and blackmailed students especially female students by threatening to fail in the semester.

Earlier, a scandal of a lecturer became known but no action was taken by the university administration due to which the environment is deteriorating. Students said that anyone who raises their voice is targeted.

When contacted by Internews, Director COMSATS University Vehari Campus, Dr. Saleem Farooq, admitted that verbal complaints were being received about some lecturers in the past, but this time, written complaints have been received from over a dozen students and parents. In these complaints, several serious allegations have been made, including threats of failure by the lecturers based on personal enmity and others.

Salim told, that an inquiry committee has been formed and action will be taken after the inquiry report and the report will be sent to the head office.

It is pertinent to mention that the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology had taken notice of a highly objectionable question in the 1st-semester exam of English in the Department of Electrical Engineering of COMSATS University, Islamabad and dismissed the lecturer who asked to write an objectionable essay.
