
VEHARI: Vehari Police on the occasion of World Drug Day issued a report of a crackdown against drugs claiming to have arrested 521 drug dealers and confiscated a big cache of drugs worth millions of rupees.
District Police Office of Vehari district Muhammad Essa Khan said that a grand operation of the Vehari police against drug dealers is in the process which has helped police confiscate hundreds of kilograms of hashish, heroin, opium and thousands of liters of liquor worth millions of rupees besides arresting 521 drug dealers.
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in Pakistan like in other parts of the world.
According to details, 521 big drug dealers were arrested and 311 kgs of hashish, 32 Kgs of heroin, 22 Kgs of hemp, 34 Kgs of opium, 22 thousand 194 liters of alcohol, 255 grams of ice and 41 Kgs of other narcotics have been recovered by Vehari police.
On the occasion, the DPO Vehari said that drug dealers are the scourge of society and they would be dealt with iron hands.
“Besides taking actions against the drug dealers, steps are being taken to make drug addicts respectable citizens of the society considering it as a national responsibility,” said the officer.
“A rehab center has been set up for them. God willing, I am trying my best to cleanse the society from this curse” said the officer, adding that June 26 is the day of determination to fight against drugs.
