Mohammad Amir clarified his statement about Babar Azam’s batting in T20

LAHORE: Former pacer Mohammad Amir was criticized by supporters of Pakistan captain Babar Azam for sharing his thoughts on the batsman’s performance in the T20 format.

The speedster, who usually talks about Babar’s influence in the limited-overs game, said he is frequently called out by the skipper’s fans on social media.

The veteran cricketer, before the start of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), said that bowling to Babar or a tail ender batsman is like him, as he focuses on nothing but the task of taking wickets.

Amir’s statement drew ire from the 28-year-old cricketer’s fans and supporters, as they thought it downplayed his batting skills, and eventually decided to come clean on his comments.

During his presence worldly news The “Hasna Maana Hai” show, the 31-year-old was once again questioned about her statement due to all these criticisms.

“First of all, Babar is not my ex-fiancé that I wouldn’t like him,” replied Amir, as he taunted Babar daily.

“Babar has been playing for five years and we have never had a heated argument. We have always had mutual understanding and being a junior, he has always respected me,” he added.

Aamir said that his opinion was given a wrong angle. “I have always said that he is a great batsman in Tests and ODIs. In T20Is, I have a different opinion with him. As a bowler, I don’t see Babar as a threat in the T20 format,” shared the cricketer.

“Now if someone gives this statement a wrong angle, I can only pray for their guidance,” Amir said.

Earlier this month, Aamir also clarified the matter on his YouTube channel.

“Firstly, I would like to ask those who have misrepresented this matter. Show me an interview where I have said that Babar is an average player or a talent. In all my interviews I have called him Pakistan’s best batsman, which I say in my own words, and in many places. Having said that, because of his technique, it is difficult to bowl against him in ODIs and Tests. So call him a tailender? Man,” he said in the video.

“My point was, whether it’s Babar or No.11, taking wickets is important to me because it benefits the team. For example, if 12 runs are needed in the last 2 overs and 8 wickets fall, it’s the tailenders. Playing, right? So get them out. Doing is equally important. That was my point. Every wicket is important to me, whether it’s Babar’s or Tailender’s.”
