LAHORE: Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan, who represents Sussex County Cricket Club, suffered an injury on his debut in the T20 Vitality Blast.

The leg-spinner reportedly had a nasty collision with fellow teammate Nathan McAndrew while taking a catch in the match against Somerset. The collision occurred on the fourth ball of the seventh over when Somerset’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore top-edged a delivery at extra cover.

Play was stopped for 10 minutes as both fielders fell to the ground, requiring immediate medical attention.

Shadab was given the concussion protocol before taking the field. After that, the condition of the cricketer is continuously monitored. Meanwhile, McAndrew completed his four overs after undergoing treatment with concussion protocol.

Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace gave an update on Shadab’s health, saying he had a “bit of neck pain” but was fine.

He said that the doctors thought it was better to remove Shadab from the game.

“The most important thing is that they are both OK,” Farbrace added, referring to the two injured cricketers.

He said the situation could have been worse but the players are doing well now.

Due to injury, Shadab did not bowl, allowing Somerset to easily chase down the target of 184 runs. Earlier he faced eight balls and scored 9 runs with a six in the first innings.

Shadab is one of the nine Pakistani players who feature in this year’s edition A burst of vitality That started last week. It is the 21st edition of the tournament which was the first full-fledged T20 league when it started in June 2003 as the T20 Cup.
