ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Sadpara created history as he scaled the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, without supplemental oxygen and the help of Sherpas on Sunday in Nepal.
He is the first Pakistani to climb the world’s highest peak without the aid of supplemental oxygen.
Sajid aims to climb all 14-8-thousanders without the aid of supplemental oxygen. He has already climbed K2 (8,611m), Gasherbrum-I (8,080m), and Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) in Pakistan, as well as Manaslu (8,163m) in Nepal without supplemental oxygen.
By achieving such a feat, Sajid fulfilled the wish of his late father Mohammad Ali Sadapara, who was a legendary mountaineer.
In a tweet, the legendary mountaineer said: “History made as first Pakistani to summit Everest; Alone, without supplemental oxygen and personal Sherpa assistance. It was his father’s dream for Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani climbed Mount Everest, becoming the second woman from the country to climb the world’s highest peak.
The First female mountaineer Samina Baig, who achieved the feat in 2013, has climbed to the top from Pakistan.
On Kiani’s part, another feather has been added to his cap as he became the first non-Nepali climber to climb Mount Everest this climbing season.
According to details, the climber reached the summit of the world’s highest mountain at a height of 8,849 meters at 8:02 am on Sunday.
Also, Kiani a mother of two, a boxer and a banker in Dubai is the only Pakistani woman to have scaled five eight-thousanders which now includes Mount Everest in an incredible two-year span. Earlier, he climbed Annapurna I, K2, Gasherbrum I and II in Nepal.
He is now aiming to climb the fourth highest mountain, Lotus at 8,516 meters on his current tour in Nepal. Kiani first rose to prominence in 2018 after her wedding photo shoot at K2 Basecamp went viral on social media.
