KABUL: The Afghan central bank sold 15 million U.S. dollars via auction on Saturday to keep the national currency stable against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar, said a statement.

Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) said that the national currency afghani was tumbling against foreign currencies especially the U.S. dollar over the past couple of months.

The exchange rate for 1 U.S. dollar stands currently at 86.5 afghanis, compared to 85 afghanis last week.

The DAB has injected millions of U.S. dollars into the money exchange market over the past couple of months in efforts to prevent the fall of afghani against foreign currencies.
