BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) — A compilation of excerpts from discourses by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, concerning China’s food security has been published by the Central Party Literature Press and is available nationwide.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has attached great importance to food security. It has been treated as a top state issue to ensure that the Chinese people have enough to eat.

Xi’s discourses centering on the country’s food security are of great significance to advancing rural revitalization across the board, building China into an agricultural powerhouse, comprehensively consolidating the foundations of food security, and ensuring that China’s food supply remains firmly in its own hands.

Compiled by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, the book brings together 240 relevant passages under eight categories, excerpted from over 80 important spoken and written works that Xi made between December 2012 and December 2022. Some have been made public for the first time.
