BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) — The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body, held its third Chairperson’s Council meeting in Beijing on Monday.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered remarks.

Wang urged efforts to further equip the CPPCC with new theories and raise the quality and standard of the CPPCC’s work persistently. He also called for efforts to understand the nature and position of the CPPCC, faithfully fulfill duties and responsibilities, and take the lead in implementing whole-process people’s democracy.

The establishment of relevant special committees should be advanced, the campaign of in-depth research and studies should be promoted, and the competence of CPPCC members should be strengthened, Wang said.

A series of agendas for 2023 were deliberated and adopted at the meeting, including a study plan for the Chairperson’s Council of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and the CPPCC’s key external exchange tasks.
