LAHORE, Nov 1(ABC): The gas shortfall is likely to reach its highest level this year, sources within the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) revealed Tuesday.

Sources privy to the matter said that currently, the gas supply is 17 million cubics while the demand is over 25 million cubics which might increase next month.

“The domestic consumers will receive the gas supply three times a day,” said the sources, adding that the commercial and industrial sectors will also suffer. The power, fertilisers and CNG sector will also get less gas.

The sources also said that imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) is very expensive which is why less amount of orders was placed.

The authorities said that they have informed the government about the gas shortage. They also said that they cannot provide regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) at lower prices while buying it at a higher price.
