Apple’s new SOS feature free for two years for iPhone 14 users

Sep 13(ABC):The newly launched iPhone 14 has an added feature for safety, letting users send SOS messages via satellite when outside of phone service and cell phone reception. Apple announced that the feature will be free for users for two years for iPhone 14 users.

iPhone 14 has the unique feature of connecting to satellites with a system that will tell users where to point their phone in the sky. The company developed an algorithm for text compression so that the size can be reduced to work with the satellites’ limited bandwidth.

The Emergency SOS will become a paid add-on feature for Apple users later but iPhone 14 users will get two years of free service.

The feature will be launched in November of this year and will only be available on iPhone 14 models and users residing in the US and Canada, Cnet reports.
