Record tax collection this year, says Director Excise

ISLAMABAD, July 14(ABC): Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has broken all previous records of tax collection by collecting 72% more taxes this year as compared to last year.

In a statement on Thursday, Excise Department Director Bilal Azam said that the record tax collection became possible due to induction of modern technology.

 “In five years, tax collection has increased 300 times, in the year 2021-22, a record tax collection of over Rs. 19 billion was made, Rs. 13 billion was collected in the form of excise taxes” Director Bilal Azam said.

He further said that last year the total tax collection was Rs 11.32 billion. In five years, the tax collection has increased from Rs 6 billion to Rs 19 billion.

Director Excise Department said that the record increase in tax collection was possible due to the policies of Chief Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed and the patronage of DC Irfan Memon.
