Former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has announced that he will pursue legal action against individuals spreading rumours and misinformation about his personal life.
In a statement shared on X, Malik urged people to stop speculation and jokes regarding his private matters, warning that violations would face legal consequences.
He clarified that his first marriage ended in 2023 through mutual consent, and that both parties agreed to share custody and raise their child jointly. He added that he later entered into a new marriage following that separation.
Malik said he has always kept his private life out of the public domain, but claimed that his silence had been misused by certain individuals. He also noted that baseless criticism was directed at his current wife, describing such attacks as unacceptable since she was not involved in the matters being discussed.
The former captain appealed to the public and fans to refrain from spreading false information about his life or that of others. He emphasized that while public figures are subject to scrutiny, violations of privacy and damage to reputation cross acceptable boundaries.
Malik concluded by reiterating that legal steps would be taken against those responsible for disseminating incorrect information, amid ongoing social media discussions surrounding his personal life.
