Indian filmmaker and producer Karan Johar has stated that loyalty is lacking in the film industry, making remarks during a recent interview with Indian media.
Speaking about talent management and professional relationships, Johar said actors frequently move between agencies, often every two years, citing feelings of insecurity and the perception that they have become settled in one place. He added that such transitions reflect broader challenges within the business environment.
Without naming anyone, Johar remarked that considerable time and effort may be invested in developing an artist, only for them to move on unexpectedly. He further suggested that some individuals later reconsider their decisions and seek to return after exploring new opportunities.
According to Indian media reports, the comments came months after actress Janhvi Kapoor reportedly moved from Dharma Productions to Collective Artists Network.
The remarks have sparked discussion within industry circles regarding professional stability and evolving talent-management practices.
