Maulana Fazlur Rehman urges ceasefire in Pak-Afghan tensions

1 min read

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both countries to observe an immediate ceasefire and exercise restraint.

In his statement, he acknowledged that Pakistan’s security concerns are legitimate but stressed the importance of respecting Afghanistan’s sovereignty and internal affairs. He warned that emotional reactions could further complicate the situation for both nations.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman suggested that the issue should be addressed through mutual interests, a reliable security framework, and internationally recognized protocols. He emphasized that diplomatic efforts remain the only sustainable solution, while unilateral military actions could exacerbate existing tensions.

The JUI chief also called on countries in the region committed to peace to play a constructive diplomatic role in reducing tensions and promoting stability.
