Pakistan’s security forces delivered what officials described as an immediate and effective response after the Afghan Taliban regime allegedly opened unprovoked fire at multiple locations along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, according to security sources and a statement issued earlier by the government.
Security sources said Afghan Taliban forces initiated firing at various points across the border, prompting a full-scale retaliatory response from Pakistani troops. “Pakistan’s security forces are giving a befitting reply to the unprovoked Afghan aggression with full force,” the sources said.
According to officials, Pakistani forces carried out targeted counterattacks that destroyed Taliban hideouts and forced militants, described as Khawarij, to flee their positions. In the Chitral sector, security sources said an Afghan Taliban check post was targeted and destroyed with precision.
Heavy engagements were also reported in the Nawagai sector of Bajaur, Tirah in Khyber district, Mohmand district, Kurram and the Arandu sector, where Pakistani forces responded with force. Two Afghan posts in Bajaur were destroyed, security sources added.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting earlier said the Afghan Taliban regime had “miscalculated” by initiating unprovoked action along the border, which was met with an immediate and effective response from Pakistan’s security forces. The ministry said early reports indicated heavy casualties on the Afghan side, with multiple posts and equipment destroyed.
Officials reiterated that Pakistan remains fully prepared to defend its territorial integrity and ensure the safety and security of its citizens. “Pakistan will take all necessary measures to protect its borders against any form of aggression,” the ministry said.
The situation along the border remains tense, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance in affected sectors. — LORD
