Renowned Pakistani actor Faisal Qureshi has responded to recent remarks by senior performer Nauman Ijaz regarding the use of makeup in television dramas.
Faisal Qureshi, who is currently hosting a Ramazan transmission on a private television channel, addressed the controversy during his programme while discussing matters related to the entertainment industry.
A few weeks ago, Nauman Ijaz had said in an interview that he was not Faisal Qureshi or Humayun Saeed who would require makeup for drama roles, adding that his primary focus remains on character portrayal. The statement sparked debate across social media platforms, with users interpreting it in different ways.
Breaking his silence, Faisal Qureshi said that even if Nauman had made such a comment, there was no reason to take offence. He maintained that he did not believe the senior actor intended to taunt or belittle anyone.
“I think perhaps he meant that he concentrates more on character-driven roles and therefore does not feel the need for makeup. I am confident his intention was not to undermine us,” Faisal said.
He further observed that he and Humayun Saeed are often cast in lead or hero-centric roles, whereas Nauman Ijaz is known for focusing on strong character parts, which may have been the context of his remarks.
According to Faisal, incomplete statements often trigger unnecessary debates. “It is always better to complete a thought; otherwise, it can create confusion,” he noted.
He also praised Nauman Ijaz’s appearance, saying the senior actor possesses a striking personality and hardly needs cosmetic enhancement. Faisal added that social media tends to amplify issues, suggesting the matter could have been ignored altogether.
