Security tensions escalated in Balochistan’s Barkhan district after unidentified armed men attacked the Zargoon Construction Company’s crushing plant late at night.
According to police sources, the attackers opened fire at the plant and abducted three workers belonging to the Musa Khel community. The incident also targeted a nearby police post, where the assailants disarmed three officers and fled with government-issued weapons.
Officials said the attack caused partial damage to machinery and temporarily halted ongoing road construction and related work. The abducted workers, residents of Musa Khel, were employed on a daily-wage basis at the site.
Security forces, including police, Levies and Frontier Corps teams, immediately launched a search operation, which is ongoing. No arrests have been reported, and the abducted workers have yet to be recovered.
Authorities noted that this assault is part of a troubling pattern targeting construction companies, especially those involved in road and infrastructure projects, potentially aimed at disrupting development and spreading fear in the region.
The district administration has tightened security in affected areas and urged the public to report any suspicious activity. Zargoon Construction Company officials have confirmed the incident and are in contact with the families of the abducted workers.
