The National Database and Registration Authority has registered 97 per cent of the country’s population, according to its annual report submitted to the Ministry of Interior.

Nadra spokesperson Shabahat Ali released the authority’s one-year performance data through a video statement, highlighting significant growth in overall registration and digital services.

He said the number of registered citizens has reached 227 million, with women accounting for 48 per cent and men 52 per cent of the total. The spokesperson noted that overall registration witnessed an 11 per cent increase during the reporting period.

According to the data, 31.9 million births have been registered at union councils across the country; however, these children are yet to be formally registered with Nadra.

The authority’s biometric database now contains facial identification records of 170 million citizens, 1.68 billion fingerprints and iris data of seven million individuals, the spokesperson said.

He added that child registration recorded an 18 per cent increase, while women’s registration rose by eight per cent, reflecting an improvement in documentation coverage.

Currently, Nadra operates 938 registration centres nationwide. During 2025, 75 new registration centres and 138 additional counters were established to enhance public access to services. Facilities for overseas Pakistanis were also expanded.

Shabahat Ali further said that the Pak ID mobile application has assumed 15 per cent of Nadra’s operational workload, with downloads surpassing 12 million, indicating a growing shift towards digital service delivery.
