Pakistan’s overnight cross-border airstrikes on seven alleged militant centres in eastern Afghanistan killed more than 80 terrorists linked to recent attacks inside Pakistan, security sources told Lord on Sunday.
According to official security sources, the intelligence-based operation targeted hideouts in Nangarhar Province, Paktika Province, and Khost Province. The strikes reportedly destroyed four facilities in Nangarhar, two in Paktika and one in Khost.
Security sources said the targeted sites were allegedly being used by the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for planning and coordinating cross-border terrorist attacks.
“More than 80 militants were confirmed killed, while the death toll is expected to rise as assessments continue,” the sources said.
Officials described the operation as precise and intelligence-driven, aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure accused of orchestrating recent suicide bombings in Pakistan. Damage assessments were under way, and authorities indicated that further details would be shared once verification was complete.
Earlier, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting stated that Pakistan had conducted targeted, intelligence-based strikes on seven militant camps along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border following a spate of suicide attacks, including one in Islamabad.
The government said the action was undertaken in response to what it described as cross-border militant threats to national security. — LORD
