The Government of Punjab has issued a new transport policy for provincial officers, specifying vehicle entitlements and petrol allowances, officials said.
According to the notification, the Chief Secretary and IG Punjab will be allowed to use three official vehicles each, with engine capacities of 2800cc, 1800cc, and 4700cc. Monthly petrol allocation for two of these vehicles will be 800 liters, while there will be no limit on petrol for the 4700cc vehicles used by the Chief Secretary and IG Punjab. Previously, the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary were limited to 1300cc and 1600cc vehicles with a 200-liter monthly petrol allowance.
Under the revised policy, secretaries in grades 20, 21, and 22 may use 2800cc and 1800cc vehicles, with 200 liters of petrol for personal use and unlimited petrol for official duty. Administrative secretaries previously had access to 1300cc cars and 200 liters of petrol monthly.
Special secretaries and DIGs in grades 19 and 20 will now use 1600cc vehicles with a 250-liter monthly petrol allowance, up from 1000–1300cc vehicles and 175 liters previously. Additional secretaries in grade 19 will also get 1600cc vehicles with 200 liters of petrol per month, compared with 175 liters earlier.
Deputy secretaries in grade 18 will use 1500cc vehicles with 175 liters of petrol, up from 1000cc vehicles with 150 liters previously. Staff officers of the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary will continue to use 1300cc vehicles with 150 liters of petrol monthly. Ministers’ staff officers in Punjab will be allowed 1300cc vehicles with 125 liters of petrol per month.
The revised policy reflects an increase in vehicle capacities and fuel allowances for higher-grade officers while maintaining structured limits for lower-grade staff.
