Azerbaijan envoy lauds Pakistan’s climate stance at ECO moot

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov called on Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik at his office in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Ambassador appreciated the strong stance taken by Dr. Musadik Malik during the ECO meeting on climate change, particularly his emphasis on collective global responsibility and his remarks regarding inconsistencies in international climate commitments. He acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive and vocal role in advocating equitable climate action for developing countries.

Both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, underscoring the strong cultural and historical ties that bind the two nations.

The Ambassador extended an invitation to the Federal Minister to participate in the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum, scheduled to be held in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026. The forum is expected to provide a significant platform to deliberate on the climate–urban nexus, resilience-building, and collective pathways toward environmentally sustainable urban development.

Dr. Musadik Malik welcomed the invitation and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
