Second round of indirect Iran U.S. nuclear talks conclude in Geneva

2 min read

The second round of indirect nuclear negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran concluded on Tuesday in Geneva, Swiss authorities and Iranian state media have reported. The talks, held under Omani mediation at the Omani Embassy, follow initial indirect discussions that began earlier this month as both sides sought diplomatic progress on Tehran’s nuclear programme.

Iran’s delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the U.S. team included representatives such as Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner. The two sides exchanged proposals and held mediated discussions focused primarily on nuclear issues, including possible sanctions relief and confidence building measures.

The talks took place against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions, with both Iran and the United States maintaining strong military postures in the wider Middle East. Despite this, the second Geneva round marked another attempt at dialogue after months of stalled diplomacy following previous negotiations and regional hostilities.

Details on specific outcomes or agreements from the Geneva talks have not yet been publicly disclosed, and officials from both sides indicated that further discussions could be required to bridge remaining differences.
