Cristiano Ronaldo scores as Al-Nassr return pays off

1 min read

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Al-Nassr’s starting lineup and scored against Al-Fateh after missing two matches due to a dispute with the club.

Ronaldo had expressed dissatisfaction over his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema joining rival club Al-Hilal, citing concerns about Al-Nassr’s financial support compared to the rival club, despite both being owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). He also noted that PIF supports Newcastle United financially.

Reports indicate that Ronaldo and Al-Nassr management held negotiations this week, resolving key issues including unpaid wages and granting the club more authority in decisions. The Saudi Pro League confirmed Ronaldo’s full commitment to Al-Nassr, emphasizing his role in the club’s growth and ambitions.

The 40-year-old Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United and has extended his contract to play with the club through 2027.
