The 2026 T20 World Cup is on the verge of breaking a 19-year-old record as Ireland posted a massive total of 235 runs against Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo.
This total marks the highest score in the ongoing event and the second-highest in T20 World Cup history.
It is also the fifth instance of a team crossing 200 runs in this edition of the tournament.
Previously, in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup, teams surpassed 200 runs on five occasions.
In addition, the 2016 and 2024 editions of the T20 World Cup saw teams crossing 200 runs four times each. The 2009, 2012, and 2021 editions recorded this milestone only once, while the 2022 tournament witnessed it twice.
