Microsoft’s AI division CEO Mustafa Suleyman has warned that artificial intelligence could replace certain white-collar jobs within the next 12 to 18 months.
In a recent interview, Suleyman said that AI is rapidly acquiring capabilities to automate tasks such as report writing, data analysis, email drafting, coding, and research.
White-collar roles typically include office staff, accountants, customer service representatives, legal assistants, analysts, and IT support personnel.
He noted that companies are likely to adopt AI tools to reduce costs. While some job roles may evolve, others could be completely phased out.
Suleyman’s statement serves both as a caution and a prediction, highlighting that while entire jobs may not vanish, the nature of work in many sectors is expected to undergo significant transformation.
