China reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution as the fundamental path to resolving the Palestinian issue, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Thursday.
Lin Jian, speaking at a regular news briefing, emphasized that China has consistently opposed the construction of new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The remarks came in response to questions regarding recent measures taken by Israel to strengthen control in the occupied West Bank and to facilitate the expansion of settlements.
China called on all parties to exercise restraint, avoid actions that could escalate tensions, and work toward a just and lasting resolution in accordance with international law.
