Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that the “wall of distrust” created by the West, along with excessive U.S. demands, is hindering progress in nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington.
Pezeshkian made the remarks while addressing celebrations in the capital marking the 47th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
He emphasized that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons and is “ready for any verification of that.”
“We believe that the region’s problems can be resolved only by regional countries, not foreign states,” Pezeshkian said, adding that Iran will never yield to excessive demands or aggression.
The president also highlighted Iran’s commitment to diplomacy, noting ongoing interactions with West Asian countries to ensure regional peace.
Addressing recent domestic unrest, Pezeshkian said his administration is making every effort to resolve the Iranian people’s problems and stressed that internal unity is crucial for the nation.
He further underscored Iran’s focus on economic development, saying the country aims to access international markets, particularly in Muslim and neighboring countries, while strengthening relations within regional and international agreements and treaties.
