Sri Lankan president thanks PM Shahbaz for approval of India match

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for allowing his team to play against India in the T20 World Cup.

Following a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister, the Sri Lankan President posted on social media, saying that Shahbaz Sharif had ensured the Pakistan-India match and thanked him for playing a role in continuing the sport that unites fans.

He added that he was pleased the scheduled Pakistan-India match in Colombo will take place as planned.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and President Anura Kumara had spoken on the phone, during which the Sri Lankan leader requested the Prime Minister’s support to play the match against India.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the sentiments of the Sri Lankan President, recalling Pakistan’s solidarity with Sri Lanka during difficult times and the continued conduct of cricket in Pakistan.

Earlier, The Prime Minister also informed the Sri Lankan President that Pakistan would communicate the final decision regarding the Pakistan-India match after consultation.
