Following a hike in diesel prices, transporters in Lahore have unilaterally increased fares, affecting passengers across intercity and local routes.
Bus fares have risen by PKR 50 to PKR 150. The fare from Lahore to Rawalpindi increased from PKR 1,600 to PKR 1,750, while the Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan fare has gone up to PKR 1,900. Fares to Gujranwala have also been raised.
Passengers expressed concern, saying the fare hike adds to their financial burden, especially as the prices of daily essentials continue to rise. They have demanded that the government reduce diesel prices to provide relief to the public.
According to official sources, the government has kept petrol prices unchanged at PKR 253.17 per liter, but high-speed diesel has been increased by PKR 11.30 per liter, bringing the new rate to PKR 268.38 per liter.
