The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced the player categories for its 11th edition, with 89 local cricketers divided into five different tiers, official sources said.
In the platinum category, 16 players have been included. Salman Agha, Hasan Ali, Muhammad Nawaz, and Abrar Ahmed have been promoted from the diamond category, while Sahibzada Farhan has moved up from gold to platinum. Top PSL players including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Shadab Khan remain in the platinum tier. The base price for players in the top category has been set at Rs 4.2 crore.
Eleven players have been placed in the diamond category this season. Muhammad Wasim Jr., Sufyan Muqeem, and Salman Mirza have been promoted from gold to diamond. The gold category features 32 players, while the silver and emerging categories together include 30 players.
Ahead of the player draft, each franchise can retain four players in total, with a maximum of one player per category.
The registration deadline for foreign players has been extended until February 3, while the first and historic PSL player draft will be held on February 11.
